The "Freigut" in Zurich-Enge. Headquarters of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF

The successful Zurich silk merchant Johann Heinrich Frey built in 1772–1774 outside the City of Zurich a prestigious country estate. The residential building’s balanced interior décor in the style of late rococo is captivating. The highlight is the banquet hall equipped with Aubusson tapestries. The garden arranged in French style was at Frey’s time the largest and most extravagant in Zurich and its surroundings. While the garden has been trimmed and redesigned over the centuries, the residential building even until today has remained largely unchanged until today. Since 2002 the Freigut hosts the headquarters of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF.
